CLUB HISTORY
The Old Post Amateur Radio Society, OPARS, was formed on April 5, 1956. The first
meeting of the OPARS was held in the Old Bonhome Building on 7th and Harrison
Street here in Vincennes, Indiana. The club was founded by three local hams: Charlie Fullerton W9GPR, Neil Perry W9TGX, and Ralph Roales W9RVM (first president of the OPARS). Later the meeting place was moved to the Knox County Court House where members became a part of the Knox County Civil Defense, operating under the call of WC9AAF. OPARS received its memorial call of W9EOC after former member Tony Hoover of Bicknell became a Silent Key. We currently have 83 Members in our club. A net is conducted on 443.675(+) every Thursday evening at 9:00pm EST for the purpose of training. Feel free to join us on the net.
